Hundreds take part in One World Running’s Fun Run

One World Running Fun Run

Wednesday, March 18, 2015. BMG: Over 400 residents of Punta Gorda town including children, assembled this morning at the Punta Gorda Central Park for the start of the One World Running Fun Run.

Organizers of the event say that the turn out exceeded what they expected.

The Fun Run started with and opening ceremony and culminated with the distribution of medals and trophies to winners.

The first 15 in each category of primary school, secondary and adults received trophies and medals.

Juan Caal

Our correspondent Juan Caal participated in the marathon and he picked up one of the awards, earning a medal for being in the first fifteen in the adults category.

Caal says that “this should serve as an eye opener and awareness about the importance of exercising on a daily basis.”

Caal also said that “it is all in our interest to not just have a fit body but rather to maintain a healthy lifestyle through running and other means.”

He says that he looks forward to the next Fun Run.

Director of One World Running Ana Weir is thankful to all the volunteers who made this year’s event a huge success.
