Tried to smuggle marijuana into Belize City

Wednesday, March 18, 2015. AARON HUMES Reporting: A construction worker has been accused of attempting to bring marijuana into Belize City through the Port of Belize on Caesar Ridge Road.

35 year old Walter Jimenez of Caye Caulker, Belize District, was caught with a black bag containing 517 grams of suspected cannabis at the Port’s compound where police picked him up after a complaint by a Port employee.

Jimenez was read drug trafficking charges before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer and pleaded not guilty, meeting bail of $5,000.

The case is adjourned until May 14.
