Education Leaders Met in Dangriga to chart the way forward

Wednesday, April 1st, 2015. Gwen Nunez Reporting: District Education Center Managers and Education Officers met last week to get updated on the current projects and programs within the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and to report on the various activities at the District levels.

Co-workers from District Centers in Corozal, Orange Walk, Belize City, Cayo, Belmopan, Dangriga, and Punta Gorda gathered for two days at the Delille Spiritual Life Center in beautiful Dangriga. The officers discussed School Supervision and Monitoring, Financial Assistance Program through Planning Unit and Ministry of Human Development, and work challenges and achievements.managers meeting 1

Other presentations were made by Mr. David Leacock, Chief Executive Officer in Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports on the topic “Sharing the Big Picture”, which involved the various initiatives under the Belize Education Sector Strategy (BESS); Mr. Bernaldino Pech, Researcher from the Planning Unit, spoke about the OpenEMIS and PSRE intiative; Dr. Neulin Villanueva spoke about the School Improvement Initiatives 2015-16, and Mr. Dylan Reneau, Finance Officer, spoke about the financial implications and expectations.

The next meeting will be held in Corozal Town.
