Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: Police are investigating a late night accident on the George Price Highway between Miles 11 and 12 involving a tractor truck and SUV colliding. Two persons were injured and the vehicles extensively damaged.
Assistant Fire Chief for the National Fire Service Ted Smith was one of the first responders on scene and says he employed his training to tend to the accident victims with assistance from his fellow firefighters. He found one occupant sustaining injuries and the other more badly hurt but conscious.
He noted that the Fire Service is also trained in responding to traffic accidents and removing persons from hazardous buildings and similar incidents with an emphasis on efficiency.
