Thursday, April 16th 2015. BMG: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Michael Peyrefitte and Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Eddie Webster are scheduled to visit the Republic of China from April 19 to 23, 2015.
Belize is the only country in our region which has simultaneously been a member of both SICA and CARICOM, and will take over presidency of CARICOM next year. The active participation in the international organizations makes Belize a very important member for the regional integration and development.
In 1898 the Republic of China and Belize established a diplomatic relationship, and since then have worked closely towards peace and development for both countries. President Wang, Jyng-ping of the Legislative Yuan of the Republic of China has become good friends with Speaker Peyrefitte through his many visits to Central American Allies.
During Speaker Peyrefitte’s visit, he will meet with President Wang to exchange views on matters of mutual concern and discuss on the ways to strengthen relations between the two countries in the future. Peyrefitte will also be inspecting the Belize Embassy in Taipei, call on political and business leaders, visit Control Yuan, Taipei District Court, ICDF, Hsin Chu Science Park, and explore 2015 Spring Computer and IT Exhibition which will be held at Taipei World Trade Center.
Before Speaker Peyrefitte’s departure for Taiwan, H. E. Benjamin Ho, the Taiwanese Ambassador to Belize, hosted a lunch to brief and update him about the current politico-economic development of Taiwan (ROC.).
