Northern Two Cayes owner to discuss legal status

Thursday, April 16th 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: According to John Mills, the holder of a substantial encumbrance and mortgage against Northern Two Cayes in the Lighthouse Reef Atoll, the owners of the Puerto Azul project have not completed their purchase of the island.

He plans to reveal more as to the legal status of the island at a press conference to be held in Belize City on Thursday morning, April 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the Radisson Fort George Hotel’s Santa Rita Room.

For now, Mills is quoted in an email circulated to media houses this week as saying that the reports of the purchase are “erroneous” and “false”, and that, “the people of Belize deserve transparency as it relates to this property and its permitting.”

He adds that Lighthouse Reef is part of each Belizean’s national heritage, referring to the Blue Hole and Half Moon Caye National Monuments located there
