Friday, April 17th, 2015. BMG: In February of this year, it was announced that the Trial Farm Government School had won second place in the Belize Red Cross Poster and Slogan Competition on proper hand washing techniques. Today, members from Red Cross, volunteer Artist Terryl “man at work” Godoy and artistically inclined students showcased their talents as they helped to paint a mural at the school’s concrete fence.
The Resilience in the Americas Project and the Participatory Health and Sanitation Transformation (PHAST) are initiatives being carried out by the Belize Red Cross in communities across Belize.
The PHAST initiative saw the Red Cross volunteers working with schools to share good practices in health and hygiene. And as such, a Poster and slogan competition in proper hand washing was launched which saw the participation of several schools from the Northern region. The winner of that poster competition went to Mahek Khiantani from St. Francis Xavier School while Second place to San Antonio and Trial Farm Government School.
