Chopping in Esperanza Village in Cayo

Sunday, April 19^th 2015. BMG: Tonight, a 27year old woman is hospitalized at the KHMH under stable condition after receiving a chop wound to the back of her head.

According to police, early Saturday morning they visited Mendoza Street in Esperanza Village where they observed the 27 year old, later identified as Shannel Robinson with chopped wounds to the back of the head and injuries to her fingers. Police also observed another person, Ralph Mendoza, Sr. with a stab wound to the foot which was inflicted on him during the brutal attack inside her home.

Initial police investigations reveal that Shannel Robinson had just entered her home, when her ex-common-law husband allegedly stomped open the door and proceeded to attack her and Mendoza. Both Robinson and Mendoza were taken to the San Ignacio community hospital where Mendoza was treated and released. Robinson, however, had to be taken to the KHMH for further medical treatment.

The alleged attacker has since been detained by San Ignacio police and their investigation of this early Saturday morning incident continues.
