Benque Police Investigate Gun Shots in Xunantunich Maya Ruins Area

Tuesday, April 21st 2015. BMG: According to Officer in Command of the Benque Police Station, Daniel Arzu, BDF and Police were dispatched just now to the ancient Maya site of Xunantunich in San Jose Succotz, Cayo where reports of gunshots were heard. 

Law Enforcement Officers are in the scene right now; however no further gun shots have been heard.

Arzu told Belize Media Group that due to proximity of the Guatemalan border it could be hunters in the Guatemalan territory that fired the shots.

Police are investigating.
