Justin Hyde, Octaviana Lopez given bail

Posted: Friday, May 8, 2015. 7:18 pm CST.

Friday, May8th 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: On April 17, mother and son Wendy Lambey and Aaron Munnings were shot at their home in Belize City. Police arrested and charged 19 year old Justin Hyde of Curl Thompson Street with attempted mucourt_appealrder and other charges.

Today he was set free on bail of $12,000 subject to surrendering his travel documents, not interfering with witnesses and attending all court dates as well as the Queen Street Police Station on Fridays starting next week.

Meanwhile, 38 year old Octaviana Lopez, who we are told is currently in hospital, will have a chance to get out on bail for a charge of handling stolen goods in relation to the alleged diversion of over $225,000 from the Treasury Department which was to be sent to the Toledo Community College in Punta Gorda as their monthly subvention, but was instead allegedly diverted to Lopez’s Belize Bank account in Dangriga and later slowly withdrawn.

Lopez, through attorney Oswald Twist, was offered bail of $25,000, much more than co-accused Francis Palacio’s figure of $4,000 issued last week but less than David Enriquez’s $40,000 bail for three counts of theft.

Justice Gonzalez said in court that the court was not possessed of the figures in relation to the handling charges for Palacio, which was a factor in why his bail was so low. Ms. Lopez must report to Dangriga Police every Friday starting next week, give up travel documents, not contact witnesses and appear in court on all adjournment dates until her case is concluded.
