Tuesday, May 12th, 2015. BMG: The Department of the Environment has noticed an uprising problem and would like to make Belizeans aware that projects which can have negative environmental impacts, such as displacement of wildlife, need to be cleared by the department before being carried out.zipline

Personnel at DOE have noticed a spike in zip-lining project proposals countrywide and ask that developers follow the proper permitting procedures before starting any development.

The Department believes that in recent years, many zip-lines have been assembled in remote areas without Environmental Clearance and warn that this can cause disruption of natural habitats among other environmental disturbances.

The Department of the Environment supports all economy, boosting projects, but asks that all developers follow the proper procedure in order to maintain a sustainable environment.

The Department of the Environment (DOE) is responsible for fostering the prudent use and proper management of the natural resources of Belize, the preservation, protection and improvement of the environment and the control of pollution.
