Tuesday, May 12th 2015. BMG: Two weeks ago, a 7.8 quake hit central Nepal killing 8000 people and injuring 18,000. On Tuesday, at about at 12:35 local time in Nepal (06:50 GMT) another major earthquake struck eastern Nepal, near Mount Everest.
According to the US Geological Survey, the quake had a magnitude of 7.3 and was felt in northern India and Bangladesh.
At least 32 people are dead and 1,006 people in the country suffered injuries, said Nepalese government information and communications ministry spokesman Minendra Rijal.
The epicenter of the new earthquake was about 75 kilometers east of Kathmandu, the Nepali capital where many buildings were destroyed in the earlier quake.
The latest disaster comes amid a humanitarian crisis in Nepal, with aid yet to reach many remote parts of the impoverished nation.
