Wednesday, May 13th 2015. BMG: The United Pentecostal Elementary School in San Antonio Village, Cayo District held a cultural fair yesterday to highlight a variety of educational activities about Maya culture like food, dancing, music, arts, and much more.
San Antonio Village is located about 8 miles south of San Ignacio Town and has a population of over 2000 people that are predominantly Yucatec-speaking Maya.
In attendance at the event were representatives from the National Institute of Cultural & History (NICH), tourism stakeholders from the area, as well as tourists and locals.
The cultural event was held to raise funds to build a new fence for the school.
