Friday, May 15th, 2015. BMG: The CEO of Southwest Airlines, Garry Kelly in a press conference on Wednesday, announced that the Airline will now offer non-stop flights to Costa Rica, Jamaica, Liberia, Costa Rica and Belize.
These new flights into the country will definitely mean more tourists, which in turn will result in a healthier Belizean economy. Ticket prices were also mentioned at the announcement and according to Kelly; they will be cheaper than other competitors, making trips to the United States more accessible to the working class Belizean.
Flights to Belize City are scheduled to start on October 15th along with flights to Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Cancún in Mexico as well as San Jose, Costa Rica.
Tickets for these news flights to Belize officially became available yesterday, making us the first country from the list to have tickets on the market. Next in line to have tickets available is Costa Rica, which will be added on November 1st.
Southwest Airlines is based out of Dallas’ Love Field but International flights such as the ones to Belize will depart from the Hobby Airport in Houston.
