GO Joven conducts selection process in Punta Gorda

Chrisbert Garcia Reporting: Motivated by its mantra “Inspiring Youth Leaders with the Power of Change,” Go Joven promotes and supports the development of young leaders to act as catalysts for social change who will vastly expand Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health choices, services, policies, and programs at the community, national and regional levels.

Belize’s branch of this organization recruits youths from all over the country who possess leadership qualities and want to make a positive difference in their communities and in the country of Belize on a whole.

An application process is first required in which applicants must fill out a form and send it to the Go Joven group, this is followed by an interviews which are conducted by district.

If one is successful, they are then given the privilege of participating in 3 separate 1 week training on various topics such as leadership and sexual reproductive health. The time has come again for the selection of new members to be inducted into this magnificent group and yesterday, interviews were conducted in Punta Gorda.

The interviews were done by a group of three representatives from Go Joven, who questioned the applicants’ knowledge on issues affecting Punta Gorda and Belize and asked what difference they could make as a youth leader.

The successful applicants from across the country will be called and given the good news, after which their journey as a youth leader will begin. Go Joven members are required to do a training program in their respective communities after successfully completing the course given to them by the organization over a 2 month period.
