Thursday, May 21st 2015. BMG: Friends For Conservation and Development (FCD), the environmental organization that manages Belize’s largest protected area and some of the nation’s most prized landscape and natural resources posted this morning on their Facebook page that they found a dead tapir at Harris Creek along the Chalillo Reservoir.
According to the Facebook post, the rangers believe that the tapir was shot dead by poachers.
FCD is now on a mission to track down the poachers that killed the tapir, which is the national animal of Belize.
