Sunday, May 24th, 2015: For the first time in history, Santa Elena Town in the Cayo District held a fun filled Family Day.
The event started off with a run-a-ton from Hawkes Worth Bridge down to La Loma Luz Boulevard and then continued to George Price Avenue and ended at the Macal River by the wooden bridge.
The Family Day included a bunch of enjoyable activities like greasy pole, greasy pig competition, watermelon eating contest, hot dog eating contest, strong man competition, and volleyball and five a side football marathon.
The one of a kind event was sponsored by the San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council, Thirsty Thursday Night Club, Councilor Mike Salazar, and Flora’s Kitchen.
The organizers hope to have the event every year on Commonwealth Day.
