BMG will be in Hopkins for Mango Festival!

Saturday, May 30th 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: Belize Media Group is headed south on Saturday to the seaside Garifuna community of Hopkins, located about half an hour south of Dangriga, for the annual Mango Festival.

While “the king of fruit” enjoys an admirable bounty across Belize at this time of year, Hopkins has adopted the mango as its calling card the way Crooked Tree does cashew, Toledo does chocolate and Placencia and Caye Caulker do lobster.

This year’s festival kicks off at ten a.m. with opening ceremonies followed by all-day cultural entertainment and exhibitions along the beach and at the village centre.

The main event is a concert by the Garifuna Collective in the evening as they kick off their U.S. tour. There will be raffled prizes all day and the grand prize is a vacation to Hopkins for three days and nights including transport, meals and area tours.
