Dangriga Men Busted with Drugs in Benque Viejo

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015. Flora Pereira Reporting: Police in Benque Viejo Del Carmen have arrested three persons for drug trafficking: Herson Gonzales, a taxi driver of Arenal Village, Juan Garcia, a taxi driver of Dangriga Town, and Jose Majil Madre of Cocoa Street in Dangriga Town.

According to police, the trio were stopped at a police check point in Arenal Village, Cayo District where their vehicle was searched, however the three of them didn’t have anything on them.

Police then conducted a search on the trunk of the car which led to the discovery of a large red and black Winnie the Pooh canvas bag. Upon opening the bag, police discovered 25 parcels of black plastic bags wrapped in transparent tape containing suspected cannabis.

All occupants were detained and transported to the Benque Viejo Police Station where the drugs were inspected and amounted to 11,132 grams of cannabis. Police have since arrested and charged the three persons for drug trafficking.
