Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015. BMG: Executive members of the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) returned from Zurich, Switzerland on Sunday evening where they witnessed many of FIFA’s high level officials being arrested on charges of wire fraud, racketeering and money laundering. ruperto vicente

The Belize delegation traveled to Zurich last week and participated in the 65th FIFA Congress where they also voted in the election for a new FIFA President. Sepp Blatter won that election for the fifth consecutive time to be named president of the powerful organization despite the corruption that has been taking place under his leadership.

When President of the FFB, Ruperto Vicente was asked who the Belize group voted for, he said: “Well I voted for Joseph Blatter. Reason being is that he was up for development and Belize needs as much assistance in development as possible and so we also put the challenge that it is now his responsibility to clean up the situation in FIFA.” Vicente was also asked if the Belizean delegation was scared when Swiss police began arresting FIFA officials in their presence and he said: “Not at all because, there’s no reason to. You know what is involved there.

You know in no way I would ever be involved in it nor would the Football Federation of Belize will ever be involve in those situations.” To the entire world’s surprise, Sepp Blatter who was re-elected just a few days ago as FIFA president, announced his resignation this morning at a press conference, shocking the football world and sending the internet into a frenzy.

Blatter said that he will resign after the organization elects a new leader at an “extraordinary congress”. It can only be speculated that the reason for his resignation stems from the corruption and figurative crumbling of the world’s most powerful sports organization, FIFA.
