Australian hired as Belize’s new Olympic Sports strategic consultant

Saturday, June 6th, 2015: BMG: Australian by birth, Dr. Davis received his MSc from the University of Oregon, his PhD from the University of Minnesota in USA and has worked as a Dr-Peter-Davis, coach and high performance sport administrator.

Since the start of his career in 1981, he has worked with countries including, Australia, USA, Canada, Switzerland, Great Britain, Botswana, Qatar, St. Kitts and now Belize.

The Belize Olympic & Commonwealth Games Association issued a press release stating that realizing the need for sports development in Belize; the association has hired Dr. Davis as a strategic consultant who will provide assistance to the National Olympic Committee (NOC) for the development of its strategic plan.

Davis, who will be working closely with the National Federations of Belize, arrived in the country on Monday June 1 for an initial visit, has since met with the NOC, National Sports Council and National Federations.

Working in elite sport management for over thirty years in several countries, Dr. Davis has a clear understanding of the issues and challenges facing NOCs and Sport Federations today, and has delivered proven results in strategic planning, performance management, assessment and other areas all over the world.

With Davis’ skill set and experience, the Belize Olympic Committee is optimistic about the benefits and growth to be gained from his assistance. It is expected that the sporting community in Belize will see improvement at an international level and not just locally.
