Belize City man shot after pulling gun at police officer

Monday, June 8th, 2015. BMG:  Police are investigating a shooting at a nightclub around 1:45 a.m. yesterday that resulted in a Belize City man to be hospitalized.

Reports are that police were about to search 30 year old Kareem Betancourt, a Ring Road, Martins area resident, as per normal procedure before entering a nightclub but Betancourt pulled out a gun and pointed it at the police.

The officer then pulled out his licensed .9mm pistol and shot Betancourt on his right elbow, leading to the retrieval of his .45 pistol loaded with 5 live rounds.

Betancourt was then taken to the K.H.M.H where he was admitted in a stable condition. Police are currently investigating.
