Thursday, June 11th 2015. BMG: Reports reaching our newsroom are that a Guatemalan military vessel ran aground on the reef in Southern Belize. According to reports, the incident happened sometime early this morning and the boat is still at the scene.

According to reliable sources, the Guatemalan boat is a GC651 and was en route to Isla Mujeres, Mexico when it experienced mechanical problems and drifted on to the reef.
The boat had 15 persons on board and is currently lodged on the reef near Glovers Reef atoll in Belizean waters. Belizean Coast Guards are on the scene assessing the situation.
