Toledo students improving on PSE, St. Peter Claver lead the way
Friday, June 12th, 2015. Chrisbert Garcia Reporting: Chief Education Officer for the Toledo District Education Center, Dr. Carmen Jane Lopez, cites an improvement in results for the 2015 Primary School Examination (PSE) over 2014.
The preliminary results released on Monday show that about three quarters of the over 600 students from Toledo who sat the exam earlier this year (75%), passed the test with an average of greater than 50%, a satisfactory result.
Punta Gorda Town’s St. Peter Claver R.C. School boasted the top two examinees and three of the top ten. Victor Paulino scored 90.5%, earning 362 of 400 points. He was closely followed by Leah Mangar whose average was 90%. A share of second place went to Maya Atkinson of San Pedro Columbia R.C., also scoring 90%.
The remaining top performers are as follows: 4. Nigel Romero – Big Falls R.C – 89.8%, 5. Marleen Chavarria – PG Methodist – 89.3%; 6. Tadeo Bennett – St. Peter Claver R.C – 88.5%; 7. Jamira Coleman – Little Flower R.C – 87.5%; 7. Emmalyn Duncan – Little Flower R.C – 87.5%; 9. Joanne Yong – Little Flower R.C – 87.3; 10. Gavina Cal – San Jose R.C – 86%; 10. Shekinah Hew – Toledo Christian Academy – 86%.
