Tuesday, June 16th, 2015. BMG: For the last few years, citizens have constantly complained about the deterioration and many potholes on the Belmopan – Santa-Elena stretch of the George Price Highway.
Yesterday, however, it was reported that the government is going to dish out 1.5 million US dollars to upgrade it. That amount will be added to the 27 million US provided by the International Development Bank (IDB) and another 5 million Euros from the European Union.
The totaling 19 million will not only be used to upgrade the 19.4 miles of broken pitch between the major city and the twin town, but will also facilitate the installation of a higher, wider bridge in Roaring Creek, as the existing bridge can barely hold two lanes of traffic as it stands now.
The new upgrades should decrease traffic fatalities and facilitate easier traffic flow.
