Tuesday, July 21, 2015. BMG: South Korea has become a world leader in science and technological innovation, home to popular brands like Samsung, LG and Hyundai. And that is why, according to Minister of Energy, Science, Technology and Public Utilities Sen. Joy Grant and CEO Colin Young, the East Asian country is a perfect partner to help develop Belize’s Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy and Action Plan that will form the basis of an institutional framework.Tech.

The Ministry is aiming to, quote, “utilize Science Technology and Innovation to act as a catalyst to reduce poverty, promote sustainable livelihoods, and improve the quality of life of the population.”

Hon. Grant told 7 News that the plan was being put in place from 2 years ago. The South Koreans have ballooned from US$100 GDP per capita to US$30,000 since 1966, and Belize wants to go the same way with its own strengths, like agriculture.

CEO Young stated that the framework will be pursued along with the private sector and universities to find real strategies to advance economic development and the experiences of these agencies will be key.
