Wednesday, July 22, 2015. BMG: Mexico’s Federal Consumer Protection Agency (PROFECO) and Belize’s Bureau of Standards (BBS) signed a memorandum of understanding, committing to advancing the protection and safety or goods/services used by consumers in both countries.
This consumer protection memorandum was signed by the Mexican and Belizean governments on Monday, July 20, 2015, while Wilfred Elrington, Belize’s Foreign Minister was visiting Mexico. It strengthens the working relationship between BBS and PROFECO and will make each country’s Consumer Protection Laws, more effectively enforced.
With Mexico being one of Belize’s most important trading partners, this memorandum will allow both agencies (BBS & PROFECO) to develop cooperation activities and establish a formal relationship.
