Police sergeant passes after diabetes battle

Thursday, July 23rd, 2015. Chrisbert Garcia Reporting: Sergeant of Police Concepcion Cal, 47, originally from San Antonio, Toledo District and assigned to Punta Gorda Policesergeant cal Station, passed unexpectedly on July 18 from twin complications of diabetes and high blood pressure.

This morning at ten following services at San Luis Rey Church in his home village he was laid to rest. Sergeant Cal was a friendly face and was always willing to take time out of his busy day to share information with the media despite being sometimes camera-shy.

Fellow officers describe him as always being happy, friendly and having a great sense of humor, keeping the mood light at the Punta Gorda Police Station whenever he was on duty.

He leaves to mourn a wife, a host of children and relatives as well as many close friends in the police department.
