Children’s breakfast promotes peace between Belize and Guatemala
Wednesday, July 29th, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: The Belize City Council, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Organization of American States (OAS) today hosted children from Belize and Guatemala at the BTL Park in Belize City at a breakfast intended to celebrate the youngest citizens of both countries and promote peace and harmony.
In welcoming the gathering, Belize City Mayor Darrell Bradley said all countries share similar aspirations to peace and prosperity and it is up to us to pursue that together.
Speaking afterwards with the press, Bradley cited his own relationship with the towns of Melchor de Mencos and San Benito, Peten as an example of what can be achieved.
He also revealed that he supports the taking of the dispute to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) personally, but encourages Belizeans to make up their own minds.
Entertainment included Garifuna drumming, a marimba group from Benque, a Belize-Indian dance group from Belize City and groups from Guatemala.
