Progresso men picked up for marijuana plantation and firearms

9. CRIMEThursday, July 30th, 2015.  BMG: Corozal police on an anti-drug mission made a major cannabis and firearm bust yesterday, July 29, which resulted in two Progresso men being arrested and more than 2,000 marijuana plants destroyed by fire.

45 year old Rupert Gentle and 26 year old Eber Villatoro, who were both in the area at the time of the discovery, are currently detained pending charges.

Just before 5:00 p.m, officers found a marijuana field in the Santa Rita area, Corozal District, containing 2,500 marijuana plants, some as tall as 4 feet, which were all uprooted and burnt.

While conducting further search in the area, police stumbled upon a 20 gauge shot gun loaded with one live round, a 16 gauge shotgun loaded with one live round, and eight live 20 gauge cartridges.
