PUP holds ‘power to the people’ rally in Cayo

Sunday, August 2nd, 2015. Flora Pereira Reporting: Today the People United Party held a rally at the Theodocio Ochoa Park in San Ignacio.

A respectable crowd, estimated by BMG to be between 1,300 and 1,500 people, pup good picattended the rally which began with a motorcade departing Esperanza Village at 2:30 p.m.,travelling up the George Price Highway through Santa Elena and San Ignacio Town and ending at the Theodocio Ochoa Park in San Ignacio.

At the rally topics discussed included: saying no to the ICJ; supporting the construction of the forward operating base on the Sarstoon island; Governance Reform where the Party intends to establish  a Public Accounts Committee and the Integrity Commission when the PUP forms the new government; and the launching of the Party’s policy on education, the economy, agriculture and others.

All six standard bearers for the Cayo District attended the ‘power to the people’ rally, which saw the PUP Party Leader, Hon. Francis Fonseca delivering the keynote address, receiving suggestions from participants and answering questions from the audience.

Former area representative for Cayo Central and former Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Cooperatives, Daniel Silva, demonstrated special interest in providing free internet for all schools and free education for all Belizeans, from pre-school to the tertiary level.PUP rally in san ignacio1
