Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: Belize’s National Song Competition final is fast approaching, scheduled to take place at the Memorial Park in Belize City this Friday, featuring professional and novice artists from all across the country. National song competition

The competitors qualified for the event by winning in their district elimination rounds with original carnival and patriotic songs that were judged by a panel.

A total of 18 artists made the cut and gathered at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts yesterday, August 10th, to participate in the event’s media day.

The competition is being sponsored this year by NICH, Atlantic International Bank and the National Celebrations Committee, who will be giving away $32,000 in prizes, $6,000 being for the first place winner.

This year, the competition has an online voting portion which will play a small role in deciding who wins. There will also be a special prize for the artist with the most votes, called the “People’s Choice Award” and aside from that, the “Breakout Artists of the year award” will go to a new artist who performs well and who the judges think has the most potential.

Votes can be cast at website: www.mynationalsong.bz and you are encouraged to vote for your favorite artist.
