Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Chrisbert Garcia Reporting: The Toledo Union Field, Punta Gorda’s biggest football field, is currently being upgraded by Belize Infrastructure Limited (BIL), costing approximately $1,000,000.
This project began a month ago and is on pace to be completed by the end of September, fully equipped with bleachers to accommodate hundreds of people, a new fence and an upgraded pitch.
Also under BIL’s portfolio is the Punta Gorda Sporting Complex which was demolished some months ago with promises of it being rebuilt to a state of the art facility. Well yesterday, August, 10th, a contract was signed for the commencement of building.
The contract was awarded to Daniel and Carlo Arguelles of International Environments Ltd from Belize City, who agreed to undertake the project for a price of $3,190,063.47.
Belize Infrastructure Limited, a public sector agency of the Government of Belize, has completed the design phase for the sporting complex and the construction phase should begin in September.
BIL undertakes capital projects in Belize with emphasis on sporting and other multipurpose facilities.
