Monday, August 17th, 2015. BMG: Belize City Police has detained several persons and impounded a vehicle in connection to a Saturday night, August 15, brawl that took the life of a 28 year old city resident and injured 3 others.
The 4 men – 28 year old Austin Rowland, 22 year old Mark Benguche, 21 year old Eugene Arana and 28 year old Joel Bishop, had left BTL Park and were walking in front of the MCC Grounds when they were attacked by several men who caused injuries to all 4 of them.
Rowland received a cut wound to the right ear and forehead, Benguche received a cut wound to the left cheek, Arana received three stab wounds to the right shoulder area and Bishop was left unconscious with injuries to his face and a fractured leg.
The incident occurred around 3:05 a.m. and Bishop was reportedly run over by a vehicle that sped off, ultimately resulting in his death eight hours later in hospital at 11:55 a.m. Rowland and Arana remain in stable condition at the K.H.M.H and Benguche was released after being treated.
Bishop’s body now awaits a post-mortem examination at the K.H.M.H morgue. Police investigation continues.
