UPDATE: Two injured and one dead in fatal traffic accident

Monday August 17th, 2015. Chrisbert Reporting: Police reports indicate that on Sunday evening August 16th 2015, between miles 50 and 51 on the Hummingbird Highway, a traffic accident resulted in one fatality and nine people needing medical attention.

The initial investigation indicates that shortly after 5:00 pm, 25 years old Marvin Zuniga of Salvapan area, Belmopan, lost control of the grey SUV he was driving causing the vehicle to overturn.

accident 16 august 015Traveling along with Zuniga was 32 year old Claudia O’Brien, 12 year old Lizeth Martinez, Amir Rodriguez, 9 year old Gabriel Martinez, Stephanie Rodriguez, 14 year old Manuel Martinez, Graciela Martinez, Leonela Rodriguez, 15-year-old Tirelly Martinez and Ariani Rodriguez.

Ariani Rodriguez died on the spot and the other occupants of the vehicle were transported to Western Regional Hospital for treatment.

Claudia O’Brien suffer from head and body injuries, Lizeth Martinez, suffer from two fractured legs and a large cut wound to the head, Amir Rodriguez suffer from a large cut wound to his head and a fractured arm,  Gabriel Martinez suffer from a cut wound on the right side of his face, bruises to forehead and complains of pain to his right leg, Stephanie Rodriguez suffer from head and body injuries and a fractured right leg, Manuel Martinez,  suffer from a fractured left arm, facial injuries, cut wounds and bruises to both legs, Graciela Martinez suffer from a cut wound on the right side of her head, Leonela Rodriguez suffer from head and body injuries and Tirelly Martinez who suffer from abrasion to her legs.

Lizeth Martinez, Amir Rodriguez, Gabriel Martinez and Stephanie Rodriguez were later transported to the K.H.M.H for further treatment. Police investigation continues.
