Thursday, August 20, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: Leaving Belize today for Haiti is a group of artists representing Belize in the 12th Caribbean Festival of the Arts, or CARIFESTA, scheduled from August 21-30.

Group headliners are the world-reknowned Garifuna Collective, the first pick according to head of delegation Karen Vernon, due to their experience and huge success with worldwide tours and recordings.

Also participating are the Unique Belize Band and a dance group which will be doing a 20 minute routine that was choreographed by Jamie Thompson, the Artistic Director of LyveArts Project Belize.

Thompson said that since he lives in the USA, the dance group learnt 95% of the choreography from a video he sent and he was surprised to see how much they had accomplished when he arrived in Belize on Friday.

He says that since Friday, they have been working ten hours a day to get the dance perfected and represent Belize well in Haiti.
