Government reaffirms sovereignty over half the Sarstoon River

Friday, August 21, 2015. BMG: Belize’s sovereignty, said Prime Minister Dean Barrow on Wednesday is “unalterable, unshakable and immovable” and that not only our military, but all Belizeans are and must be prepared to defend the 8,867 square miles of Belizean territory to the death.

The government reaffirms the sovereignty over half the Sarstoon River as declared in the 1859 treaty and our military’s actions on the river and unwillingness to surrender to Guatemala is proof.
