Hurricane Danny continues toward Leeward Islands

Friday, August 21, 2015. BMG: As of 3:00 p.m. local time, the National Meteorological Service of Belize reports that Hurricane Danny was centered near 14.5 degrees North latitude, 49.1 degrees West longitude or about 860 miles east of the Leeward Islands.

Danny was moving West North West at 10 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 115mph. Reports from the NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER in MIAMI, Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that Danny is now a Category 3 Hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.

Elsewhere in the North Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.
