Friday, August 21, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: The Police Department has been meeting with gang elements in Mayflower and Jane Usher Boulevard as well as PIV in Lake Independence and on the Northside as well.
These efforts have so far mostly yielded positive results, with a reduction in the number of shootings and criminal complaints. But that kinder, gentler approach has not touched some hearts, such as in George Street.
Following yesterday’s shooting in Belize City, Officer Commanding Eastern Division Senior Superintendent Chester Williams said that there are some for whom a helping hand is not enough.
The Police will have to be tough with them in order to keep the peace.
The kids of Mayflower Street will be receiving school supplies from the Department next week Thursday as their counterparts on Jane Usher did earlier this week.
