Minister Castillo plans to continue his career in politics as ‘adviser’
Monday, August 24, 2015. BMG: He stepped aside for Belize City Mayor Darrell Bradley as Caribbean Shores standard bearer in April, but Minister of State Santiago Castillo Jr has told reporters he is not quite done with politics yet.
As he winds down his only term in office, Castillo says he has told Prime Minister Dean Barrow that he is available to serve “in any capacity he sees fit,” adding that he enjoys his role in public life as much as his work as principal of the Santiago Castillo Group of Companies.
Castillo says the transition to Bradley has gone “very smoothly” and he expects Bradley to have “a very good chance” of election over Kareem Musa.
Castillo confirmed that he was not invited to attend Darrell Bradley’s convention in Caribbean Shores but he likely would not have made it anyway, as he was out of country at the time.
