Monday, August 24, 2015. Orange Walk Bureau Reporting: 12 primary school students from San Felipe and Progresso villages were awarded with scholarships thanks to the Scotia Bank Education Fund.
A small ceremony at their Main Street Branch in Orange Walk was the venue for which the cheques of 300 hundred dollars each were given out.
According to Manager of the Bank, Wilberto Magana, the education grants will help the students and their parents pay fees and buy books for the upcoming school year.
The money is from the Scotia Bank Education Fund which was originally an initiative of the bank of Nova Scotia but it is now a commitment of Scotia staff.
Parents expressed their satisfaction and gratitude towards the much needed grants.
