BREAKING: Fire guts popular bar in Hopkins

Monday, September 7^th, 2015. BMG: Belize Media Group has received reliable reports that a well-known bar in Hopkins Village is currently engulfed in flames after a freak fire lit its roof earlier this evening.

Residents reported that around 6:12 p.m., they noticed a large bush fire beside the primary school, which they believe to have been started by the local children.

With gusts of wind breathing life into the fire, the flames managed to reach the thatched roof of the Newtown bar, quickly destroying the roof and spreading to the wooden structure below.

We understand that almost 50 residents of the village rushed to the scene with buckets of water and are still on the scene attempting to extinguish the blaze.
