Fisheries Department sieze $5,000 worth of illegal conch

Wednesday, September 9, 2015. BMG: The Belize Fisheries Department along with Audubon Society, made a4020161_orig bust of around 465 pounds of illegal conch Tuesday morning, inside an icebox that was hidden in some mangroves.

This bust was a result of an operation targeting closed season operators as the conch season is closed until October 1st, raising the value per pound to anywhere between $10 and $12, meaning that the seized conch was going to be sold for nearly $5000.
