Wednesday, September 23rd, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: The dispute at First Caribbean Bank is one of two major labour issues being dealt with by the Christian Workers’ Union.
The other, especially difficult issue is the plight of the stevedores working for Port of Belize Limited. Despite their internal might at the Union stevedores have been unable to get close to a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with Port of Belize Limited.
The two sides have returned to the negotiating table, however, and CWU president Audrey Matura-Shepherd says the air was cleared on what is on the table for the workers. Now, says Matura-Shepherd, it is time to move on.
The workers are just coming off a short stoppage due to pay disputes.
