PUP blames Foreign Minister for “mismanagement” of Guatemala issue

Monday, October 5^th, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: Minister of Foreign Affairs Wilfred Elrington and the UDP Government have mismanaged the issue of the Guatemalan claim to Belize, according to the People’s United Party.

The PUP have condemned the statements of Elrington at the United Nations where he failed to thoroughly advocate Belize’s position or ensure that the international community is aware that the peoples of both countries would decide the course of the case.

Party leader Francis Fonseca says the party will not turn the matter to politics but avers that this issue is a key consideration at the polls.

The party says if elected it will pursue full national consultations on the issue ahead of a vote.
