Friday, October 9th 2015. BMG:While insisting that it was not his own opinion, Prime Minister Dean Barrow says that the infamous rat which was videoed in the incubator at the Western Regional Hospital a month or so ago was, in the opinion of “knowledgeable” persons privy to the situation, placed there, perhaps intentionally.

The theory has gained support among elements in the UDP, who believe that it was “planted” and bit a newborn baby, causing great embarrassment for the Government.

According to these persons, as quoted by Barrow, the incubator is a sealed facility that cannot be breached except if it was deliberately opened and there is no evidence of that. The only other explanation for these persons that he considers “of sound mind and sober judgement” is that the rat was planted.

The hospital has a particular problem with rodents and even reptiles that a dedicated clean-up campaign could not eradicate. Health officials have recommended a brand new hospital with funds from the European Union.
