Saturday, October 17, 2015. BMG: A release from the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) has asked the public to pay close attention to weather reports as some areas have been flooding and it is expected that more areas will be affected.
This is said to be because of a broad area of low pressure that has moved inland over central Belize, producing heavy rainfall over portions of the country as well as neighboring countries.
The increased rainfall has already caused flooding in Hope Creek, Sarawee and Dangriga where the flood waters receded this morning and the rain stopped, but not before 15 persons had to be rescued and taken to the Hope Creek Methodist School Shelter. Those persons returned to their homes this morning.
The public is asked to take heed to the warning, especially those who live near water bodies and drivers of motor vehicles.
