MOH issues safety and health tips

Wednesday, October 21st, 2015. BMG: A press release from the Ministry of Health issued earlier today, serves to notify the general public that water services have been restored to MOHall affected areas except Sarteneja Village and that if water appears discolored or smells foul, for residents not to drink the potentially contaminated water.

If you notice that your water is contaminated, you are advised to contact the nearest health authority, the Belize Water Services (BWS) or local water boards and stop using water from that source.

The release states that safe water must be must be used for many reasons, such as:
Drinking

  • Washing dishes, cooking surfaces, raw foods, or rinsing food
  • Drinking water for pets
  • Washing your hands before eating
  • Brushing your teeth
  • Preparing other drinks that need water such as tea, coffee, juices, baby formula, etc.
  • Making ice
  • Any use where the water will be ingested internally.

Water can be boiled or chlorinated to make safe for consumption.
