BDF assists with transportation of ballot boxes

Thursday, October 29th, 2015. BMG: Brigadier General David Jones of the Belize Defense Force (BDF) spoke to the media yesterday and confirmed that the assistance of the BDF genera joneshas been requested to transport ballot boxes for the November 4th General Elections, to ensure security of the democratic process.

Personnel of the force will be tasked with taking boxes to and from the polling and counting stations countrywide, in all 31 constituencies, as was requested by the Elections and Boundaries Department.

Jones told the media that names of soldiers are going to be submitted in order to determine who will be selected to participate in the safeguarding of these boxes and he made it clear that the soldiers won’t be participating in any other process of the elections except the transportation.

Jones added that in case of any internal security issue, the BDF will be on standby to assist the police department.
