Elderly man killed in road traffic accident

Thursday, October 29^th, 2015. BMG: Juanito Robery Cowo, a resident of Joseito Layout in Corozal, was arrested and charged for “driving without due care and attention”, “causing death by careless conduct” and “manslaughter by negligence”, after a Ford F-150 pickup truck he was driving, collided into 52-year-old Leonardo Crawford while he rode his bicycle between miles 89 and 99 on the Phillip Goldson Highway.

Around 5:45 p.m. yesterday, Crawford, a resident of Chan Chen Village, was reportedly riding his bike in the direction of Corozal when the pickup truck, which was traveling in the same direction, collided with him, throwing him 52-feet away from the area of impact.

Cowo stopped to assist Crawford and notified the police but nothing could be done to save the victim’s life and he was pronounced dead on arrival at the Corozal Community Hospital.

Cowo was offered bail of $4000 which he met and Crawford’s body is currently awaiting a post-mortem.
